Jacob Stephens is an educator and percussionist based in Wilmington, NC. He currently holds the Principal Percussion position with the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra.
In addition to his role with WSO, Stephens regularly performs with the Wilmington Symphonic Winds and the Opera House Theatre Company. He has also performed with the Aspen Festival Orchestra, Greensboro Symphony Orchestra, Salisbury Symphony Orchestra, Piedmont Wind Symphony, and Bel Canto Company. In 2019, Stephens was a member of the Santa Clara Vanguard front ensemble, going on to win DCI's Fred Sanford High Percussion Award.
An active educator, Stephens currently serves as the Band Director at Myrtle Grove Middle School and is the percussion coordinator and arranger for the Ashley High School Screaming Eagle Regiment. Stephens has taught numerous marching band percussion sections in the Greensboro and Wilmington areas.
Stephens graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education in 2020 where he studied percussion with Dr. Eric Willie. He was also an attendee of the 2018 Aspen Music Festival and School where he studied percussion and timpani with Cynthia Yeh and Ed Stephan.
