W.A. Mozart/Lorenzo Da Ponte | Don Giovanni
UNCW Opera Outreach Project
with Ronald Holmes as Don Giovanni
In spectacular conclusion to our Masterworks Series, the opera Don Giovanni threads a path between comedy and serious drama, tied together with insight into the human spirit conveyed through Mozart’s brilliant composition.
Ronald Holmes, baritone, is pursuing his teaching license at UNCW, after receiving his Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance from East Carolina University. He has also been featured with Opera Wilmington for the last three years including roles as Dancairo in Carmen, and Marullo in Rigoletto. While at ECU, Ronald performed the role of Bottom in Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream, and David in Barber's A Hand of Bridge. In 2013, he performed the role of Jesus in Bach's St. John's Passion with the UNCW Chamber Choir and the North Carolina Baroque Orchestra. He currently studies with Nancy King and is the bass section leader at St. James Episcopal Church.
